My Top Breastfeeding Must Haves

My Top Breastfeeding Must Haves

As this week (1st August-8th August 2019) marks National Breastfeeding Week 2019, I thought I’d share my breastfeeding must haves!

I’ve shared below my favourite items:

  • MAM 2 in 1 Single Breast Pump or
  • Lansinoh Single Electric Combi Breast Pump
  • Lansinoh Breastmilk Collector
  • Lanolin Nipple Cream
  • Freezer Storage Bags
  • Nursing Pads
  • Breastfeeding Pillow
  • Water Bottle
  • Snacks

If you are planning on expressing alongside breast feeding it is so important to invest in a good pump, I wholly recommend either the Mam 2 in 1 or Lansinoh Single Electric Combi Breast Pump.

MAM 2 in 1 Single Breast Pump

I was gifted the Mam 2 in 1 Electric Breast Pump by Emma’s Diary as part of their Parent Squad whilst I was pregnant and I started using it alongside exclusively breast feeding to pump for an upcoming wedding I was part of. I took it on the hen do with me too as it is cordless so you can charge it up and take it on the go which is a major selling point and easy to grab, pump and go! It’s got a touch screen face and the charge lasts for ages! It is amazing! Worth every penny. My Instagram review is linked by clicking here.

You can view to buy it on Amazon here.

Lansinoh Single Electric Combi Breast Pump

I love the Lansinoh pump because it is so compact, quiet for those early morning pumping sessions and the pulling power is amazing! I can get up to 6 ounces in just 10 minutes with this pump. You can find my full review by clicking here.

It is available to view to buy on Amazon by clicking here with 30% off!.

Lansinoh Breastmilk Collector

When you are feeding or pumping from one boob, the Breastmilk Collector is perfect to catch the let down from the other boob to save you leaking and to utilize the most from your milk makers! Read my full review here,

Lanolin Nipple Cream

This stuff is a MUST, your nipples will get cracked, sore & even bloody during those first few weeks of establishing correct latches & to be honest the first two weeks are just so so hard, I’ve wrote about it here, Lanolin is your friend! It will quite literally save your nipples when they feel like they are falling off! Have it in your hospital bag!

Freezer Storage Bags

If you are expressing your milk, you can only keep it in the fridge for up to 5 days, but it can last up to 12 months if stored properly in a freezer so freezer bags are a must. They are expensive unless you buy in bulk, I also look on eBay a lot for people selling leftovers. I tend to use the Lansinoh bags as they seem to be the ones I’ve seen the most.

Nursing Pads

I have been lucky both times not to be a ‘leaker’ but if you are then you will need nursing pads! Help do your bit for the environment and your purse and buy washable nursing pads. I have linked the Lansinoh ones below but there are many independent Instagram stores etc that do funky designs!

Breastfeeding Pillow

A great pillow is good for feeding, letting younger siblings like Frankie above hold baby on & for when they learn to sit up as a support. It’s particularly amazing during the cluster feeds to free up two arms!

You can view to buy the one we have as pictured above here. There are so many different covers you can buy too!

A Decent Water Bottle

USN Water Bottle

Staying hydrated is key to breastfeed, the more you drink, the more you’ll produce. Forgetting to drink enough will leave you with a headache, or like me drinking too many fizzy drinks and not enough water/squash. I can never be bothered to make a drink especially if you are stuck on the sofa baby attached to boob, so I always fill up this water bottle, which holds 2.2 litres before bed when I do the sterilizer to prep pumping for the morning with squash and put in the fridge. Then I leave it the next day in the lounge or bedroom overnight so I always have a drink to hand!

You can buy it on Amazon here.

Snacks Snacks & more Snacks!

If you are breastfeeding you need to make sure you are feeding yourself as well as them! I am pretty good at eating good dinners & am always eating out but I am rubbish for making sure I eat enough good snacks rather than just grabbing crisps or a chocolate bar on the go. I literally live on the Fibre One range, I love the lemon drizzle, carrot cake and chocolate popcorn!! I usually buy them from B&M or any supermarket. (I’m not being paid to say that they literally are dotted packs of the below around my home. I also find bananas, oranges, olives, cured meats, yoghurts best to have in the fridge!
