The Christmas Chronicles, Netflix

Yesterday I woke up full of aches & flu-like symptoms so me and Frankie had a sick day on the sofa and stayed in our pyjamas all day! We put the tree up on Sunday & had cheeselet trees and twiglets on demand so was feeling the Christmas Spirit!

After seeing ‘The Christmas Chronicles’ advertised on Netflix, I decided to watch it with Frankie and we both adored it! I am a great believer that ‘they don’t make them how they used to’, my all time favorite Christmas films are ‘Miracle on 34th Street’ and ‘National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation’ and whilst I love a Hallmark or True Movie film about a big town girl coming back to the small town where she was raised to fall in love with the local baker on Christmas Eve, nothing beats a Father Christmas film.

Kurt Russell stars as Father Christmas and his no knocks humor contribute to a loving and realistic Santa Claus, who injects the Christmas spirit back into brother and sister Teddy and Katie Pierce who lost their Father the previous year.

After a tough year of grieving their Father’s loss, on Christmas Eve they hatch a plan to catch Father Christmas in the act, which they do and more! After sneaking into Santa’s sleigh and causing chaos, it is up to Teddy and Katie to help Santa get Christmas back on track with the help of Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen & Rudolph and Santa’s elves (which look a bit like hamsters with hats on and facial hair..).

Frankie loved the elves, found them hilarious and laughed and ‘wowed’ his way through the film. The light humor and heart-warming ending (which I definently cried at!) make it a lovely Christmas watch.

Well done Netflix!
