Another Sunday, another bulk cook for the boy. This one isn’t exactly a recipe, if you read and follow thetwentyishmum you will know that I work in an office in London not concocting packet spices for supermarkets but for a hearty low cost meal to bulk cook, sausage casserole wins every time.
This makes four meals for Frankie (or six small meals for an under 2)
Shopping List:-
- A pack of 8 sausages (I use Cumberland)
- X2 Brown onions
- A sausage casserole mix
- *optional* add vegetables to roast, I added mushrooms & two carrots
How to:-
- Brown off the sausages in a frying pan
- Chop and add x2 onions for a few minutes
- *optional* chop and add carrots & mushrooms for a further 1-2 minutes
- Follow the sausage casserole mix instructions, this one was ASDA, add water and stir
- Add the sausage & onion mix to a casserole dish spreading it out
- Pour the casserole mixture over
- Bake for 45-60 minutes
- Once cooked bring out of the oven and chop sausages into halves
- Quarter the casserole into x4 separate parts (4 half sausages for each meal)
- Freeze for up to three months
- Serve with mash & peas
I did the shop at ASDA for a change and the meal cost less than £5 for four meals #result.
